CBPR Depression (Community Based Participatory Project

Contact: Stephanie Wahab     wahabs@pdx.edu

Our long-term goal is to improve mental health care for women of color who have experienced intimate partner violence (IPV).  We plan to develop a community-based, multi-faceted intervention based on Empowerment Theory and the Chronic Care Model and to test its effectiveness in reducing depression severity in African American IPV survivors.  The purpose of this proposal is to gather pilot data on our intervention, while strengthening our community-academic partnership and acquiring the skills, tools, and preliminary data necessary to conduct a large-scale controlled trial.

Project Dates - June, 2008 - May, 2010
