In support of our overarching goal, the Oregon WISE proposal focuses on five components during Year One, and three components during Year Two. During Year One, the primary components of the work plan are:
1) Select and provide professional development opportunities for four school districts that demonstrate a high level of readiness to implement Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE);
2) Raise capacity level of Healthy Kids Learn Better (HKLB) Cadre through additional Training of Trainers (TOT) in CSE;
3) Increase level of school and community advocacy efforts in support of CSE at the selected WISE school districts;
4) Expand social networking technology (currently hosted through Cascade AIDs Project, Teen to Teen Program) for the purpose of CSE messaging and advocacy;
5) Through evaluation completed by Regional Research Institute (RRI), compile “lessons learned during Year One” for application to Year Two school districts.
During Year Two, the primary components of the work plan are:
1) Using “lessons learned” evaluation, develop a CSE implementation tool kit for selected school districts;
2) Select and provide professional development opportunities for four additional school districts that demonstrate a high level of readiness to implement CSE;
3) Develop and introduce, at the 2011 Oregon legislative session, a policy option package that will provide sustainable financial resources for CSE.
The RRI is responsible for the evaluation portion of the grant.
