The Young Offender Reentry Program (YORP) provides a Program for Assertive Community Treatment (intensive case management services) and utilizes two research-based dual diagnosis models of treatment, the Matrix Model (stimulant addiction treatment) and Seeking Safety (substance abuse and PTSD treatment) to ensure successful reentry and reduction of relapse and recidivism for young adults. YORP is a four-year grant funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. The YORP program received its grant award in July 2005 and is funded through June 2009.
The Young Offender Reentry Program is a key strategy to meeting the challenge of treating the growing numbers of methamphetamines users in Clark County, Washington. This project provides a broad range of services to effectively address all risk factors for the young adults ages 18-24, including housing, targeted education, and employment assistance.
The Regional Research Institute at Portland State University is conducting a comprehensive process and outcome evaluation of the YORP program. Over the project period, the RRI will evaluate the programs effectiveness, disseminate program outcomes and develop a manualized approach to treatment of methamphetamine abuse for young adults.
